Digital Photography Tips 3Dye-Sublimation PrintersMost printers are ink jet printers that spray dots of colour onto paper. Dye sublimation printers work by heat and transferring the colors to the paper. Dye Sublimation printers can produce better colors that are smoother and are more accurate. The colors do not pop as much they are a lot subtler. There are a lot more range of colors and they are more accurate in the reproduction of the original picture, assuming that your monitor is calibrated correctly and correctly. Ink jet printers may be more saturated. Dye Sublimation printers do not break down or smear as much as ink jet printers do. Reliability is important if you need to get the prints out. Some say that Dye Sublimation printers are a little bit more expensive and maybe the ink could be harder to find. Dye Sublimation printers can print onto cloth. More ink is wasted when you use dye-sublimation but you know how many prints you will get with your ink package. You can get smaller dye-sublimations (that print maybe 4x6) that come with packages of paper and ink. Dye subs are instantly dry when they come out of the printer because they have some kind of an over coat. The speeds range from about eight sseconds to thirty seconds, depending on the brand of printer. Some say that blacks on a dye-sub are not so great. If you need to get prints out quickly to clients or customers then a dye-sublimation printer will help you if you are out at an event. Try and find some information about the Sony Snap Lab for example.
Sony Digital CamerasSony has a wide range of point and shoot as well as dslr's (digital slr). If you are moving up from a point and shoot camera to a dslr, then maybe the alpha line may be a good digital camera. Digital photography is gaining in popularity and people want greater capability to get the shot quickly that they may have missed with a point and shoot camera. Live View is an important feature that most users want. They want to see the results of what they will get on an LCD. Sony has developed a way of live view that does not delay the picture. Sony has a very robust autofocus system on their dslr cameras by using a second image sensor. One sensor sends the information to the lcd screen and the other one processed the photo. So the sony dslr live view models shoot just as fast as with using an optical viewfinder. The value of shooting with the live view lcd is exampled when you have to take a shot from above your head for example. When you are holding the camera above your head, you can move the lcd screen so that it is facing down so you can see what you are shooting. Some really good photos are taken at a different angle, say from your waist, and give you a different artistic perspective. It also comes in handy when you are shooting in Macro mode, laying down in a garden shooting some bug. |
