This is a first reading of a script. It is where all the voice actors get together to read through the script and and decide any directorial decisions. The actors have probably been working on the script by themselves at home and now it is a chance to see how it sounds with the other voice actors. The director will read out any action directions and the voice actors go through the script, refining their lines and getting familiar with the script. The voice parts of the animation production pipeline get done first before any animation is done. The voice parts are laid down first on the track and then the characters are animated according to the sound.

Sound can also consist of music, including songs, background music, and sound effects such as the sound of cars, things falling etc. After the rehearsals the voice actors will record the audio in a sound studio.
