Photoshop CS5 New Features

There are many new features in Photoshop CS5 but here are some of the main ones. The first one is the new Painting engine. If you click on the Mixer Paint-brush, you will see that you get a 3D preview of the handle of the brush. When you start painting you will see that not only can you paint colours, but you can also blend. You can use the new painting tools over your photos or create your own original art works.

Puppet Warp is designed to warp images to an exact precision. Select your image and then go to your menu and select Puppet Warp. After selecting this, you see a mesh appear over your image. You can turn it on and off with a checkbox above the image. Then you can set pins or locking points that you can control with a good degree of accuracy. When you click on the point you can bend and stretch. You can also bend and rotate about a point's axis. If you then switch from Normal to Distort mode,

HDR Pro can merge together multiple images. For example, you can merge ten different exposures of the same landscape photo. There are many pre-sets to start off with in the dialog box. The Remove Ghost feature in HDR Pro isolates a single frame to use as a master frame for the merging process.

Masking. Load in a quick mask selection to one of your photos. There are new controls in the Mask Edge dialog box which allow you to paint in the areas of transition. Use a brush tool to assign areas of transition and the fine details will emerge from your masking selection. Select Decontaminate Colors to remove stray colours from the edges of selections. The new masking tool creates a new layer, leaving your original layer untouched.

Content Aware Fill allows you to combine the new features of the masking tool with this tool. If you target the mask layer, click Shift and Delete, it will automatically bring up the Fill Dialog Box, which has the choice - Content Aware. It will remove the foreground image from the background and repair the background image where the foreground image was.
